makenshiicrona:
A startled yelp slipped past slightly chapped lips at the pat to his back, and Crona turned on his heel again, this time more than a little intent on keeping the girl in front of him. Patti was a nice person, and he had often wondered how someone could always have such a permanent smile on her face, but at times she was a little bit too full on for his nervous personality. Especially without the rest of the group to create distractions. And especially without Maka.
“O-oh, that’s good….” He murmured, hands unconsciously moving to brush out imaginary creases from his clothes. He honestly didn’t understand; how was Patti always so excitable? Didn’t she get tired?? He knew he’d get tired if he used even half the energy that Patti seemed to on a daily basis, and didn’t her face ever hurt from smiling too much? He’d honestly never had that happen to himself, but Maka had often chastised others for making her cheeks hurt after laughing too hard. Or perhaps it was that Patti had long since gotten used to smiling and laughing that much? That must be nice, really, to smile and laugh so often that you barely even noticed it any more.
Oh, so skittish, as always. Sometimes she wondered if he would ever take a little break - no, a nice, long vacation - from himself, in his anxious aspect. Crona seemed rather high-strung to her, if not to everyone, and it was obvious that times (even if of fleeting moments) of happiness should most definitely be freely handed out to him.
It just a little too bad that Patti was a bit unfamiliar with near almost everything needed to make Crona laugh - like, perhaps, personal space. She was always one to catch onto things quickly - even though she might forget later - and she made a small mental note to keep herself at a comfortable distance from him. But what exactly a comfortable distance was, she didn’t know yet. Trial and error would come in handy later.
And he was always thinking! It seemed to her that he was always either absorbed in thought or…well, kind of just sitting there, by himself. Sometimes, she wondered what he could possibly be thinking of. It had to be interesting if he was always pondering over it, right?
She felt some sort of awkwardness radiating from Crona as he fiddled with his clothes, and Patti was going to have none of that. None at all.
☼ —— “Crona~! You were goin’ to the lunch room, weren’t ya? Do you wanna come with me?” Her voice went low again, and she looked around to make sure no one else would hear.

Patti doubted that he was actually headed to lunch room - there were many places in the direction he had been walking other than the cafeteria - and God, it was still early morning. But that didn’t mean stealing food for later was a bad option, was it? Snacks for all!
